What You Don’t Respect, You Don’t Deserve

A lot has happened over the last few months in our on-going struggle to protect the Red Sea. Our community has taken the forefront in exposing some very serious environmental violations in the Red Sea, while environmental violations and unsustainable tourism practices are also on the rise. We’ve seen a lot of support and decisive actions form both the governor of the Red Sea and the tourism minister, while they were also forced to close down Shaab el Erg and Shaab Fanus because of a few irresponsible tourism operators. We’ve seen a very impassioned and environmentally conscious community of supporters in the southern Red Sea, while irresponsible operators continue to destroy sensitive habitats there like Marsa Imbarak and Marsa Abu Daabab. We want our community to know that we are exerting every effort and allocating a lot of resources towards eradicating this sort of irresponsible behavior completely. Yet we can't emphasize enough that the issue of enforcement is not our responsibility or mandate. It is up to the local governmental agencies and authorities to enforce the law. The good news is that key governmental decision makers have shown a lot of support towards our causes in the last 3 months. Mahamad Shabana has been banned from diving for 1 year and that, in itself, is a message that order is coming back to the sea. We've been receiving a lot of messages from concerned citizens about irresponsible practices and illegal activities taking place all across the Red Sea. We ask that you please be patient and be assured that we are following all these cases closely. This can be a long and drawn out process involving multiple governmental agencies and we must follow certain standard operating procedures, to ensure that we are being fair and working within our scope and jurisdiction. We thank you so much for your enthusiasm in reporting these violations, which enables us to do our work. And for anyone else that thinks they will continue violating environmental laws, we have one message for you: what you don’t respect you don’t deserve. Be prepared to deal with the consequences. ما لا تحترمه ...لا تستحقه شهدت الاشهر الماضية العديد من الاحداث ، و الكثير من الكفاح لحماية بيئة البحر الاحمر . و تولى المجتمع المسئولية للكشف عن المخالفات الجسيمة التى يتعرض لها البحر الاحمر ، فى مقابل زيادة مستمرة لاعداد المخالفين فى قطاع السياحة . و قد شهدنا دعما كبيرا و قرارات حاسمة من كل من السيد اللواء / محافظ البحر الاحمر و السيد وزير السياحة. و قد اجبروا على غلق كل من شعاب العرق و الفانوس بسبب التصرفات الغير مسئولة من بعض العاملين بصناعة السياحة شهدنا ايضا افراد المجتمع اصحاب الضمير الحريصين على حماية جنوب البحر الاحمر ، على الرغم من وجود العديدين المستمرين فى تدمير الموائل الحساسة بمرسى امبارك و مرسى ابو دباب و نوجه رسالتنا الى المجتمع بأن الجمعية تبذل اقصى ما فى وسعها من جهد و موارد للقضاء على هذه التصرفات المسيئة و المدمرة تمام. و لكن يجب على الجميع ان يدرك ان تطبيق القانون ليس من مسئولياتنا ، بل هى مهمة الجهات الحكومية و السلطات التى من واجبها و من سلطاتها تطبيق القوانين الامر الجيد و الذى يدعو الى التفائل ان صانعى القرار قد اظهروا دعما شديدا خلال الشهور الثلاثة الماضة ، فمثال : تم ايقاف مرشد الغوص محمد سبانة عن العمل فى البحر الاحمر لمدة عام كامل ، الامر الذى يحمل رسالة هامة و يشير الى قرب عودة الانضباط الى البحر نتلقى الكثير من الرسائل من المهتمين بشئون البيئة عن المخالفات الجسيمة و الانشطة الغير قاونية التى تتم فى كافة ارجاء البحر الاحمر ، و نحن نطلب منكم ان تتحلوا بالصبر و ان تتأكدوا ان الجمعية تلاحق هذه المخالفات و قد تأخد هذه الخطوات وقت طويل و تتخللها الكثير من المخاطبات و الاتصالات بالعديد من الجهات الحكومية و هو امر حتمى و اجراءات يجب اتباعها نشكركم كثيرا على الحماس المشهود فى الابلاغ عن المخالفات و الذى يساعدنا على القيام بعملنا رسالتنا واضحة الى كل من تسول له نفسه مخالفة قوانين البيئة و تدير ثرواتنا الطبيعية ، هيبكا لن تسمح بذلك و ما لا تحترمه لا تستحقه ، فكن مستعدا لمواجهة العواقب
